Me Too Movement

The Me Too movement in India is seen as campaign against sexual harassment of women in the workplace. Me Too began gaining prominence in India and gained more popularity in the entertainment industry of Bollywood, when actress Tanushree Dutta accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment. This led to many Indian films, government sectors accused by women speaking out their experiences and making allegations of sexual harassment by the men involved.

Dutta who said that she was inspired by Christianity, Buddhism, yoga and the #Me Too Movement in the United States. She said last month that actor Nana Patekar had sexually harassed her on the set of movie in 2008.

Dutta said that Patekar demanded her for intimate dance steps with him in one song in Horn Ok Plssss. When she refused, members of far right wing group attacked her car. They were jumping on the roof of the car, including trying to smash the windscreen, when she was in it

Though Patekar had denied wrongdoing. His advocate has sent legal notice asking her to apologize to Patekar or further face legal action.

Also far right group has also filed complaint against Dutta for comments she made about them. The police filed a case against Dutta and it under investigation.

Tanushree said that she might not raise this issue in public until reporter asked her whether #Me Too movement would ever come to India. She replied that if I did not address this issue for justice then how any movement can happen here.

Me Too: Singer Shweta Pandit

Singer Shweta Pandit has shared his incident happened before 17 years ago, when composer Anu Malik asked her to kiss in exchange for work when she was 15 years old. She calls Anu Malik as paedophile.

Though Anu Malik has denied all these. According to him, it is ridiculous and do not want to talk about this. Today anyone says anything.  His lawyer denied her baseless allegations she used for his client character assassination.

Me Too: Nisha Bora

A woman entrepreneur Nisha has accused award winning painter Jatin Das of sexually harassing 14 years ago.

Das denied all charges, said he hadn’t meet her and added that these kind of allegations are leveled against people for the sake of fun.

Me Too: Vinta Nanda

Writer-producer Vinta Nanda accused Sanskari Actor Alok Nath of raping her 19 years ago and lodged an official complaint against him. Post that the actor took the legal action for harming his reputation by taking mis-advantage of Me Too Movement and filed a defamation suit against Nanda.

Me Too: Nishtha Jain

Documentory filmmaker Nishtha Jain ,in a post on facebook, alleged that Dua told a ‘lewd Joke’ was once ‘slobbering all over’ her face. She didn’t want to pursue it legally. Dua denied the allegation leveled against him, calling it a”figment of someone’s imagination.

Me Too: Saloni Chopra , Karishma Upadhyay and Rachel White

In the wake of accusations of sexual harassment levelled against him by at least three women(Saloni Chopra, Karishma Upadhyay and Rachel White) filmmaker Sajid Khan Friday said he was taking “moral responsibility of stepping down” from directing his next film Housefull 4 starring Akshay Kumar.

Journalist Karishma Upadhyay said that in her 20s, she went to khan’s sister house to conduct interview. She alleged that he indulged in dirty talk, exposed himself and forcibly kissed her.

Saloni Chopra assisted him in a movie in 2011. She said that for getting job, he asked me to send photos in bikini, because he needed to know how she looked if wanted to become an actor.

Rachel White who starred in Ungli, alleged sexual harassment in 2012 by Khan. She said he invited her to come at his home for meeting for his comedy film humshakals.  When she went to his home, someone guided her to his bedroom for meeting. There he spoke about her body part, asked to strip and if she seduce him in five minutes she would get the role. Then she left.

Me Too: Priya Ramani:

Priya Ramani has alleged that she has been sexually harassed by M J Akbar and around 20 journalist had come out to support her saying that she was not alone. Mr. M J Akbar has filed defamation case in court against one of 20 women who have accused him of sexual harassment. He resigned as union minister saying he would fight the allegations. He has sued her, accusing her of intentionally putting forward malicious, fabricated and salacious allegations to harm his reputation taking wrong benefit of Me Too Movement.

Neutral View

Though, Me Too movement is for real sexual harassment at the workplace for women, but all men are not rapist or do sexual harassment and all rapist are not men. Stop blaming only men. Even Men too are raped or sexually harassed. Do not take advantage of your gender and favorable laws. Men too have feelings and family.

Before court judgment, Pl do not consider accused as criminal.
